A place designed for attention to sound, flavor, and shared time.
Kindred is a listening bar, restaurant, and vinyl shop in downtown Sebastopol. Records play on a custom sound system built to do them full hi-fi justice. Food comes off a wood fire — food from local farms with remarkable producers. Drinks are composed throughout the day with attention and care.
The room is built around the sound. The week itself has a rhythm: coffee and pastries in the morning, wine and cocktails in the afternoon, vinyl sessions and acoustic sets with full food service in the evenings. A rotating chef residency shapes the seasonal menu. Brandon Jew of Mister Jiu's is the first culinary collaborator.
You're running the room. Staff, scheduling, opening or closing, the daily and weekly rhythm of a place that changes shape across the day (coffee service to evening listening sessions, a quiet Tuesday to a full Friday night with a guest selector on the deck).
You'll work directly with Kevin (owner) and alongside the team most nights. About 5–10 people will report to you.
- Hire, train, schedule, and develop the team.
- Run service. Read the room. Match the energy to what the night is.
- Form service that's warm, knowledgeable, and unhurried. Every guest should feel that they have our attention.
- Coordinate around a monthly programming calendar: genre nights, album listens, guest selectors, live performance, winemaker dinners. You won't book the talent, but you will make sure the room is ready for it.
- Own inventory, ordering, and daily operations. Keep it tight.
There's work to do before the doors open. We'll walk through it with the right candidate.
- You've run rooms with great attention to detail: wine bars, listening rooms, chef-driven restaurants, places with a unique perspective. 5+ years managing FOH and BOH.
- Comfortable running a bar program: tasting, building a list, training staff, working with winemakers and distributors.
- Warm, attentive, and grounded with guests. You enjoy the human aspect.
- Curious about music. You don't need to know every record on the wall, but you're glad it's there.
